WATCH: AYJ launch event highlights…How could we reimagine ‘justice’ for children?
Back in March, to mark our relaunch as the Alliance for Youth Justice (AYJ), from the Standing Committee for Youth Justice (SCYJ), we held an online event to open up a discussion about how we could reimagine ‘justice’ for children.
With the help of our expert panel including Gavin McKenna of Reach Every Generation, Nadine Smith of Leaders Unlocked, Shadae Cazeau of EQUAL, and John Drew, social change activist and previous Chief Executive of the Youth Justice Board, we explored 'justice' through 4 key themes: children’s rights, access, equity, and participation.
We were also joined by Adam, Leon and Tranai from the AYJ Young Advocates to offer their insight on 'justice', share their perspectives and reflect on the ideas offered by the other panellists.
The launch event was a chance for everyone from our members, the wider youth justice sector, and anyone interested in driving positive change in youth justice, to come together to discuss and reimagine a future that promotes social justice and enables all children to reach their full potential.
We’d like to extend a huge thank you to all who attended the event and to those who left feedback, some of which can be found below.
