Millie Hall becomes AYJ’s Communications & Engagement Officer

In her new role, Millie will be working on all things communications and engagement, assisting with the development of the AYJ’s communications strategy and leading on its implementation to reach a variety of audiences including policy makers, the public, AYJ members and the wider sector.

Millie joined the AYJ in July 2020 as our Communications Assistant. Over the past year she has played a significant role in refreshing our external facing platforms, supporting the development of our new website and branding as we transitioned and relaunched the organisation under our new name in February 2021. In her new role she will harness and amplify the expertise of AYJ’s members, helping us to achieve our mission of driving positive change in youth justice.

Having a wide remit across the youth justice agenda means that AYJ’s work covers a range of crucial issues including policing and criminal justice reform, violence affecting children and young people, racial inequality and media representations and narratives. Millie plans to develop new, creative approaches to communicating our messages, supporting the amplification of AYJ members’ work and the AYJ’s overall strategy. She will work with the AYJ team to engage with members across the country to understand and promote their work and help them share their expertise and network by arranging engaging and effective member meetings, roundtables, policy forums, expert groups and AYJ external events.

Millie will also play a key role in the Impact of COVID-19 research project, and the communication of findings and recommendations for the AYJ. She will also support the AYJ’s Young Advocates project, helping to analyse emerging findings and ensure they inspire debate through external communications.

If you have any ideas regarding communications please get in touch with Millie via email: millie.hall@ayj.org.uk

The AYJ would like to extend huge thanks and appreciation to the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Esmée Fairbairn Foundation for their support and making this fantastic appointment possible.
